Aloha mai kākou

  • >>Both Book and Practice

“Every single day, somewhere in the world, Aloha comes to life. As it lives and breathes within us, it defines the epitome of sincere, gracious, and intuitively perfect customer service given from one person to another.”

This genuine connection is the Aloha Spirit Hawai‘i is known for.

Now imagine if the customer is an employee, and if the customer service provider is their manager, one who continually shares his or her aloha spirit in the coaching and mentorship they offer. This possibility, this liberating reinvention, is one that managers everywhere can and must believe in, demonstrate and sustain if we are to truly thrive at work. Managing with Aloha helps managers and leaders do just that; grow in their belief and intention, and make worthwhile, meaningful work our reality.

The Eight Key Concepts of Managing with Aloha

Aloha: The genuine spirit of all relationships, and the fertile ground from which everything else will thrive. Our Aloha is the authenticity we bring to our connections with others, and to the self-expression of our work.

Ho‘ohana: Work with passion, with purpose and intention, and with full joy while realizing your potential for growth and creativity.

Sense of Place: “The feel for a place, and the feel of a place.” Place nurtures and sustains us; it shapes our experiences and lends cultural richness to life.

Value Alignment: Work with integrity by working true to your values. Focus all efforts on the right mission at the right time, for it honors your sense of self and brings compelling vision within your reach.

Strengths Management: Capitalize on the talent and gifts you have within you; celebrate them by harnessing the energy they give you. Be strong for others; You can minimize your non-strengths and make them irrelevant.

Language of Intention: Speak intentionally, and be true to your good word. Drive communication of the right messages, and you drive momentum and worthwhile energies. Learn to speak and work with the “Language of We.”

Palena ‘ole: Create abundance by honoring capacity; physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual. Seek inclusive, full engagement and optimal productivity, and scarcity will be banished.

The ‘Ohana in Business: The best form for your life can be the best form for your ‘Ohana in Business as well, where the goals of each supports the other. A business can be more than self-sustainable and profitable: It can thrive.
