Kūlia i ka nu‘u and the Qualities of a Leader
When I read this quote by Peter Drucker this morning, I thought of our own efforts to understand and live the value of Kūlia i ka nu‘u this month:
“Leadership is the lifting of a man’s vision to higher sights, the raising of a man’s performance to a higher standard, the building of a man’s personality beyond its normal limitations.”
“Kūlia i ka nu‘u.” Literally intended to mean “strive to the highest summit” in the words of Hawaii’s Queen Kapi‘olani.
