Ka lā hiki ola

Ka lā hiki ola translates to “the dawning of a new day.” This is the value of optimism, hope and promise. We are reminded that there will always be the dawning of another day — life affords us many different opportunities, and it is up to us to grab hold of them, and make this day our day, and the best day ever.

This value is the guiding light of Key Concept 9 in Managing with Aloha as a complete lifestyle philosophy; Palena ‘ole, the concept of unlimited capacity. Build on your past, but don’t get hung up on it: The future is always bigger, with the promise of much more abundance.

Enjoy your present; relish the now. Kukupa‘u: Be enthusiastic. You will feel more alive. Trust in your instincts, trust in what you know and have learned, and trust in the person you are.

From Managing with Aloha (Chapter 19 preamble):

Ka lā hiki ola

“The dawning of a new day”
Optimism, hope, and promise

Life recharges itself with the dawning of each new day. We wake to new opportunities, and to fresh chances. Ka lā hiki ola, the dawning of a new day, is our reminder, and our prompting of possibility and optimism.

Nānā i ke kumu has readied us, Pono has steadied us, and now Ka lā hiki ola urges us to act, to make our best life happen.

Ka lā hiki ola is our sense of hope, and our present opportunity to hold that hope in our hands and make it real.

The future is always bigger, with the promise of more abundance, and in Ka lā hiki ola we express life fully, one day at a time.

Start well as you step into each new day, by being true to your values.
